Posted by ZS on Aug 3, 2017 2:36:51 PM

Amanda wants to see the world. All of it. She visited Antarctica last year, and now has her eyes set on China and southeast Asia.

Her passion to explore new countries and cultures is proving to be a benefit to her career as a strategy insights and planning consultant at ZS. When she started feeling the need for a change, transferring offices allowed her to approach things from a new angle.

“I thought it was pretty cool that ZS would support me in that decision,” says Amanda. ZS helped her transfer to the San Diego office, which allowed her to work with many of the same clients and the same project manager she’d been working with in Toronto.

When I was at London Business School, I got an invitation for tea and coffee from someone at ZS. I came in with a background in pharmaceuticals and hadn't really considered consulting before. I decided to meet the person and see what they had to say. From that first meeting, it was talking to other ZSers that drew me in—it all sounded great. I loved the idea of helping clients and was keen to work somewhere where I could continue focusing on healthcare.

Forecasting leader proves ZS careers defy prediction

“I’m a home-grown ZSer,” says Judith. “I started right out of Cal [UC Berkeley] with my industrial engineering and operations research degree and have been here ever since.”

It’s not a situation she would have predicted.

Raised in Northern California, Judith was referred to ZS by a Berkeley classmate who worked for the firm. “I was happy to get in the door, and I was impressed with the people I met during the interview process,” she recalled. “I thought it was a great company, but I was naïve about the true extent of the opportunities available here.”

Judith admits that she started at ZS thinking consulting was a job she would keep for a few years until she figured out “what she wanted to do when she grew up.” That was over 16 years ago. “I didn't know then that it was the perfect place for me to build my career,” she said.
