Before joining, after attending campus info sessions, coffee chats and interviews, I could sense what draws people to ZS. It’s a community of passionate people, inspired to make a broader impact on the world and I was eager to experience that culture firsthand. Only after fully immersing myself in my internship did I truly discover the synergetic environment that makes ZS special.
From the first week of orientation, I got a sense for the energy in the San Francisco office. With intern scavenger hunts around fisherman’s wharf, jumping jacks with managers during PowerPoint training and mouth-watering spread of snacks, I felt welcomed right away and quickly realized that beyond shadowing ZSers for the summer, I would have an opportunity to provide real value to our clients.
I worked in the Pipeline and Launch Strategy space, focusing on market opportunity assessments and global revenue forecasting for an emerging product. Initially, it was daunting to be staffed on a complex pharmaceutical project with limited industry knowledge. However, after familiarizing myself with acronyms, researching medical terms and contributing toward project deliverables, I was surprised by the impact I made and responsibility I gained in such a short time.
I am incredibly thankful for the support of my teammates throughout the summer who helped me deepen my analytic and technical skill set. They were always willing to sit down to answer my questions (despite how trivial), provide helpful feedback, add humor to client meetings and even offer rides to happy hours.
ZS not only cares about their people, but also giving back to their local communities. I had the opportunity to work with a non-profit organization in the Bay Area during a pro-bono project with ZS Cares, the firm’s corporate responsibility initiative. It felt great opportunity to do our part and see the impact my team and ZS was making locally.
From project team meetings to intern outings to spontaneous conversations in the open office space, the vibrant ZS community continues to make my summer experience memorable. I will take the insights from presentations and new Excel skills with me moving forward, but I will always cherish the relationships I formed with my team. ZS has been an incredible place to grow, and it’s hard to believe my internship is already coming to a close!
