In September, more than 250 women ZSers from the New Delhi office gathered for a summit hosted by the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI), ZS’s affinity group dedicated to supporting women in their careers and fostering an inclusive work environment.

Upon their arrival, attendees were prompted to use their creativity and critical thinking skills to complete a puzzle, which revealed the theme of the event: Equip & Empower. The puzzle then acted as a backdrop for the day’s presentations.

Throughout the day, attendees heard from successful women (and a few male allies) about growing their careers, developing their skillset and finding a path to success:

  • New Delhi Principal Apoorva—the first woman from ZS’s Capability Expertise Center to progress to principal—kicked off the day’s presentations by sharing the global vision of the WLI: to help women build successful and fulfilling careers at ZS through global programs, such as mentorship programs and flexible working arrangements.
  • Guest speaker Vani Gupta, former marketing director for PepsiCo, drew on her personal experiences to deliver an inspirational presentation about empowering oneself to reach his/her highest potential through encouragement and skill development.
  • Developing your skills was a common theme throughout the day’s presentations. Asia Regional Managing Principal Sanjay probed the audience with a question: “What’s your spike?” He encouraged audience members to understand their unique strengths and invest in those skills to increase their chances for success. Principal Mohit echoed Sanjay’s sentiments by stressing the importance of being prepared to seize the moment when opportunities present themselves.
  • The event concluded with a panel discussion where a number of ZS leaders reflected on their personal and professional experiences—highlighting the importance of making choices that support your career growth and finding work-life balance.
