Toronto ZSers Decorate Shoeboxes for Women in Need

In December, the ZS office in Toronto supported the efforts of The Shoebox Project, an organization that collects and distributes gifts compiled in shoeboxes to women who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness in communities across Canada and the U.S.

ZSers gathered to decorate 24 shoeboxes and fill them with various items that enhance self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation for women in crisis.

In his search for project experience, Toronto intern found new friends

“What color were the umbrellas in the sky?” was the last question we needed to answer as part of a no-holds barred scavenger hunt on the Toronto Islands. It was a drizzling Thursday afternoon, but it was the summer event for ZS’s office in Toronto.

ZSers are known for their friendly competitive spirit, so every team had carefully developed a strategy during the ferry ride to the island. Some teams started with the easier challenges, some went straight for the highest point challenges and others went straight to the patio for a drink. Regardless of approach, we all ended the hunt slightly wet, tired and confused as to what color the umbrellas were or why they were in the sky. It was an incredibly enjoyable day and an opportunity to get to know my colleagues on a more personal level.

The ZS office in Toronto recently held its second annual social impact project workshop in conjunction with Collaboration Partners, a pro bono consulting company.

ZS Cares, ZS’s company-wide initiative dedicated to making a positive difference in the communities where we live and work, also gives ZSers the chance to collaborate with new people and experience industries and roles outside the scope of their daily work.
