Boston Intern Dives Into Life At ZS, Both in and out of the Office

Just one day after moving to Boston, I started working at ZS as a decisions analytics intern. On my first day, I dove right into work. I attended meetings, contributed deliverables and even had the chance to take advantage of the office’s nitro cold brew on tap. Now, even though it’s just a few weeks in, my ZS internship has been filled with interesting work, lots of learning and, of course, some fun.

In my short time here at ZS, I’ve already started working on two projects. One is a qualitative market research project where my team and I get to interview different healthcare providers to get a sense of how a specific drug can be administered to patients in the most efficient and cost-effective way. The drug is in the last phase of clinical trials, and the client expects our insights to greatly impact their sales and educational support. My other project, which is more quantitative, requires me and my team to gather meaningful insights for our client from large amounts of data, exposing me to how analytically driven ZSers are. Being on both project teams has given me exposure to the wide range of value ZS offers clients, and yet I know there’s still so much left to experience!

ZS Intern Discovers “Alt”-ernate Shortcuts to Microsoft Office

Posted by ZS on Jul 2, 2018 9:10:20 AM

Before starting as a summer intern in ZS’s Boston office, I had always considered myself “proficient” in Microsoft Office. Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel seemed like pretty straightforward programs with functionality I had been familiar with since computer literacy class in elementary school.

At ZS, I have quickly come to realize how wrong I was. With the introduction of the “Alt” key at the week-long intern training in early June, I’m just beginning to understand how to use these programs to their full potential. To be completely honest, the first couple of weeks were a little rough. I felt embarrassingly slow compared to more seasoned team members when trying to make changes on the fly during meetings. At the same time, I was attempting to grasp the relevant information and background about my project, which did not make it any easier.

However, the people at ZS have been extremely encouraging and helpful throughout this entire process.

ZS is never a snooze, according to a Boston intern

Interning in ZS’s Boston office for two weeks has taught me that work doesn’t have to be boring.

Right off the bat, I’ve found that the work I’ve been assigned has been quite relevant and useful to the two projects I was staffed on. Experienced ZSers have been helpful guides and although it’s only been a couple weeks, I feel like I’m already developing expertise in hemophilia and spinal muscular atrophy thanks to the knowledge they shared when I joined my project teams.
